It’s all in the details

“Let the wild rumpus start!” First birthday parties are cherished memories for parents, family, and friends of the one year old. This past Saturday, I attended a “Where the Wild Things Are” themed first birthday party. This party was all about the details including crowns and party hats to deem yourself king, (or queen), of the wild rumpus, centerpieces that incorporated favorite characters from the book, and a truly wild thing birthday cake. The celebrated one year old’s mother went all out for this birthday party. She has a wonderful eye for detail and is very creative. Happy first birthday, wild one, we love you so!

St. Pete Pride

This past weekend marked the 15th anniversary of St. Pete celebrating pride and equality. Festivities are held over the course of three days including a parade. All of the events are usually held in the Grand Central District, however, they moved the parade this year onto Bayshore Drive, spanning from North Straub Park to Albert Whitted Airport. Thousands marched and watched as float after float passed by. People lined up on both sides of the street, eager to see their friends and reaching their hands in the air to catch beads. Even dogs were sporting colorful beads. There was nothing but love all around.

Graduation Party

Graduation season is coming to an end, but not before graduation parties are held to celebrate all the achievements of the grads. Balloons, flowers, banners, and cake are staples of any graduation party. I enjoy capturing the excitement and fun of events. My sister-in-law had her graduation party this past weekend. There was great food, a photo booth, and lots of friends and family celebrating all of her wonderful accomplishments. I’m so proud of her and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.

Graduation

Congratulations to all graduates this year! Your hard work and determination has paid off into a great achievement. You all should be proud of yourselves. I had three graduations I attended this year, my two twin cousins and my beautiful sister-in-law. Each of them attended a different school for different programs their schools offered. I am so proud of all three of them and all who graduated this year. Both of my cousins are going into different programs in the army and my sister-in-law is attending the University of Florida, my alma mater. Graduations are a time of happiness and great pride. Witnessing the proud parents and families trying to find their grad in the sea of caps and gowns, grads waving when they spot their families in the crowd, families cheering and snapping pictures when their grads walk across the stage, and the excited students tossing their caps in the air after their tassels have been moved from the right to the left, is a wonderful spectacle to behold. Congratulations again graduates, you did it!

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!! Today is a very special day. We take today to honor our mothers for their unconditional love, their support for us in everything we do, and all the sacrifices they made to make sure we had everything we need in life. “A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dates all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” – Agatha Christie

Night With The Mayor

On May 10th at 7pm, St. Petersburg’s mayor Rick Kriseman addressed the state of the city. Darden Rice and other city officials were in attendance. This event was hosted by Crescent Lake and Crescent Heights Neighborhood Associations at Sunken Gardens. There were light refreshments during a “cocktail” hour for neighbors to mingle with one another. Mayor Rick Kriseman discussed the pier project, plans for the sewage system, and keeping local businesses thriving in our growing city.

Volunteering – Champions For Children

I had the wonderful opportunity of being a volunteer photographer for Champions For Children’s Family Fun Day at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. This was an awesome event full of families that were able to go to the zoo for free and the children learned a lot about the different animals. There were booths set up where the children could get their “Endangered Species Passport” stamped once they learned about how to protect those animals.
